The key elements of the service are:

• Virtualization Layer – dynamically manages and allocates CPU, memory, NIC and disks across VMs and physical servers.
• Management Layer – controls, manages and maintains the functions of the VMware product suite across the customer solution
• High Availability (HA) – automatically restarts VMs on other physical servers should a hardware failure occur
• VMotion – allows the live migration of VMs from one physical server to another for service transitions or failover
• Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) – allows dynamic computing resources allocation and balancing
